Biography
Alejandro J. Valderrábano-Wagner, Esq., is a Member (NOP) at Casillas, Santiago & Torres, LLC where he serves as a corporate and tax attorney. He is licensed as an attorney in Puerto Rico, the District of Colombia and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Valderrábano-Wagner, Esq.,Previously, he was a Member (NOP) in the Corporate and Tax Law Division at Fiddler, González & Rodríguez, P.S.C., where he tenured for more than six years as a corporate and tax attorney. There a substantial part of his practice was devoted to providing tax opinions for federal and local issues and handling, tax audits, tax controversies, as well as negotiating closing agreements or settlements on various tax matters with the Puerto Rico Treasury Department, Municipal Revenue Collection Center (CRIM) and other municipal taxing authorities.
Mr. Valderrábano-Wagner has also advised clients in corporate matters, regulatory compliance and on the legal requirements applicable when contracting or pursuing business with the Government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. As a corporate attorney he has handled corporate governance and has been custodian of the corporate books of Fortune 500 companies. As a tax attorney he has provided transactional services involving multimillion dollar settlements for clients. He has also been called upon to analyze businesses internal operations and policies, to then provide them with a regulatory roadmap for local and federal compliance on corporate and tax issues.
Mr. Valderrábano-Wagner is an active member of the Retailer’s Committee of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce were he attends meetings and presentations with government officials and is often requested to draft comments and provide feedback on proposed legislation. He also served as member of the Tax Committee of the Puerto Rico Manufacturer’s Association, and was Coordinator for its Tax Regulations Subcommittee during the process of the drafting and commenting of the regulations for “The Economic Incentives Act for the Development of Puerto Rico”, Act 73 of May 28, 2008.
Mr. Valderrábano-Wagner has participated in the drafting of high profile opinions of law for government agencies, such as CRIM. This included opinions of law to resolve fund allocation disputes between state and municipal taxing authorities, and an opinion on the validity of the constitutional credit priorities that were put in place after the Puerto Rico Government Shutdown of May 1, 2006, where he participated by postulating findings before the Federation of Mayors at CRIM.
Mr. Valderrábano-Wagner has assisted in the development and drafting of laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, such as assisting with the drafting of the initial provisions for the Puerto Rico Sales and Use Tax (“IVU”) that later served as a partial basis for the Tax Justice Act, Act No. 117 of November 15, 2006. He conferenced in the seminar “The Federal Health Care Reform of 2010 and some of its possible impacts in Puerto Rico” regarding the tax impact in Puerto Rico of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Public Law 111–148 of March 23, 2010 (“PPACA”), and has drafted tax legal newsletters to distribute to clients.
