Biography
Alma J. Reyes was admitted to the Texas Bar in 2009. She graduated summa cum laude from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law where she earned a doctor of jurisprudence. Prior to law school, Mrs. Reyes graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in political science with a legal studies concentration from the University of St. Thomas in 2003. Mrs. Reyes then graduated summa cum laude with a master of arts degree in humanities from the University of Houston-Clear Lake in 2006.
During her tenure in law school, Mrs. Reyes earned various awards including the grade-point-average based Dean Merit Scholar Award and the CALI Award of Excellence, awarded to the highest scoring student in each law school class. She served as the publicist for the Board of Advocates and the president of the Hispanic Law Student Association. She competed in advocacy competitions, including the NHBA National Moot Court competition (semifinalist) and the ABA Arbitration Competition (semi-regional finalist).
Mrs. Reyes interned at the Administrative Law Legal Clinic, which provides pro bono legal representation on immigration matters. She also clerked for The Honorable Kenneth Hoyt, sitting judge for the Southern District of Texas.
Her 10 years of experience as a personal injury paralegal prior to becoming a personal injury attorney has given her insight and understanding of the evolving practice of personal injury law.
Mrs. Reyes is admitted to practice law in Texas courts, as well as before the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Texas. She has represented injured persons for over a decade.
