Biography
Andrea Hunter is a hometown attorney and graduated from Nolan Catholic High School in Fort Worth in 1998. In 2001 Andrea received her B.A. in English and Communication Studies from Baylor University.
Andrea graduated from Regent University School of Law in 2007 with a concentration on Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution. While at Regent Andrea was Vice-President and later President of the Black Law Students Association and a member of the Nationally-acclaimed Moot Court Board. She was named Best Oral Advocate in the 2005 Regent Cup, 3rd Place in the NBLSA Mid-Eastern Regional Moot Court Competition, and 2nd Best Oralist in the National NBLSA Moot Court Competition out of over 300 national competitors. Andrea was selected as a Pupil in the James Kent American Inn of Court, later receiving a Judge’s Award for Professionalism. One of Andrea’s fondest memories from law school was being selected for a specialty program entitled the “Art of Advocacy.” This program required her to argue a legal matter on a national radio program before a live audience and field calls from listeners around the country.
In law school, Andrea served as a judicial intern and extern for the Chief Judge of the Chesapeake Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court. She was also selected as one of six law students hired by the Georgia Office of the Attorney General as an intern. Andrea worked in the Government Services division and was responsible for drafting Voting Rights Act submissions to the U.S. Attorney General’s Office, opinion letters to state agencies such as the Department of Juvenile Justice, and assisting with research used in litigation related to voter identification laws.
Upon graduation Andrea was selected to complete a one year term with Texas A & M University School of Law serving as a Public Interest Fellow. This position, funded by the State Bar of Texas afforded Andrea the opportunity to coordinate volunteer efforts for hundreds of law students. Since becoming licensed Andrea has handled thousands of municipal and criminal law cases as both an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Dallas an Assistant District Attorney in Tarrant County. As a solo practitioner Andrea aided in the settlement of an over $1M breach of contract suit, as well as handled divorce and child support cases, and has been substantially involved in multiple personal injury matters. In all, Andrea has personally handled upwards of thousands of cases by plea or settlement and tried approximately 50 cases before a jury.
