I am a firm believer that a person benefits greatly from having interests outside of their work. Those interests can certainly involve people with whom you work, but it is designed for fun and getting together with friends and family. I have a number of interests that I love to do: kayaking nearly every weekend on either the Chicago River or Lake Michigan (depending on the weather of course); cooking; and sewing.  A number of lady attorneys that I have worked with over the years fondly say that they learned everything that they know how to do as an attorney from their sewing training and skills. If you can tailor a suit, you can figure out how to manage just about any problem. It is all a matter of standing back and coming up with a plan first!
