Biography
Ashley Ham Pong received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and her Juris Doctorate from the Roger Williams University School of Law in Rhode Island. Ashley is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, New York, Massachusetts, and before the Supreme Court of the United States. Ashley is also an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
A dual citizen of Canada and the U.S., Ashley has specialized in immigration throughout her legal career. Prior to joining Montagut & Sobral, Ashley was the supervising attorney for the Detained Children’s Program at the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition, a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. A significant amount of her work involved advocating on behalf of unaccompanied immigrant children facing deportation from within the confines of immigration detention.
Ashley has served as an expert panelist to train the legal community on children’s issues. She served as co-author and editor for two practice manuals published by CAIR Coalition, and is also the author of a 2014 article entitled “Humanitarian Protections and the Need for Appointed Counsel for Unaccompanied Immigrant Children Facing Deportation” published by Washington and Lee University School of Law’s Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice.
At Montagut and Sobral, Ashley has represented clients before local state juvenile courts, immigration courts and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
