As an immigrant from the Philippines, Gerard understands the challenges of people living in two worlds, and the entrepreneurial spirit that drives them to succeed. As an undergraduate at UC Irvine and law student at Loyola, Gerard supported himself by working as a language teacher, interpreter and mediator. This work exposed him to diverse cultures and honed his listening skills. Today, as a lawyer, Gerard offers affordable help to individuals applying for citizenship and for small businesses needing advice on immigration and other legal matters. He helps international clients navigate not only the legal system, but also American society, since culture and norms may be uncharted territory for them. Gerard is fluent in Tagalog and speaks basic Japanese.
