Biography
I was born and raised in Henderson, Kentucky; attending the University of Kentucky [Go Big Blue]. I didn’t leave Kentucky until I moved to San Diego to attend law school. I’ve been in San Diego ever since.
Growing up on my father’s farm, I did the things that most “farm boys” do; plowing the fields, tending cattle, and still leaving enough time to fish in the pond. Working on the family farm is what gave me the work ethic I have today. Despite the fact that farming was is in my blood, I decided early on that I would not follow in the footsteps of my father; I simply knew it wasn’t for me. During college, I developed a strong interest in the legal system and it was at that time I determined I would become a lawyer.
During law school, I studied all facets of the law: Estate Planning, Family Law, Criminal Law, Entertainment Law and others. Initially, I thought I would be a high powered corporate attorney. Life had other plans. I began my own law practice after passing the bar exam. As a rookie, solo attorney, I was finding it difficult to find a business, when a mentor mentioned Family Law. Intrigued, I started taking on Family Law clients. It made sense to leave my own practice to work for a well-known Family Law Attorney to gain experience, and eventually ventured on his my again. The rest, as they say, is history.
