Biography
Beth Padilla focuses on immigration law, juvenile law, and criminal defense. She is also a professionally trained mediator. Ms. Padilla is often representing clients in Court at least three days per week. She was chosen as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine in 2014, 2015 and 2019. She was a finalist for the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year Award in 2015. In 2018, Ms. Padilla was chosen as the Jim Corvino Advocate of the Year, which is a peer nominated award through the Colorado Office of the Child's Representative.
She was Of Counsel with the Van Der Jagt Law Firm in Denver, Colorado prior to launching her own firm, Padilla Law, P.C., with her husband. She has varied immigration experience and most recently volunteered with Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN). While working with RMIAN, Ms. Padilla provided general immigration information to detainees located at the GEO Detention Facility in Aurora, Colorado.
Of CounselMs. Padilla obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. While in law school, she studied family law, immigration law, juvenile law, and trusts and estates. Ms. Padilla drafted estate documents under the supervision of Professor Lucy Marsh. Further, she successfully represented an asylum seeker throughout the affirmative application process and represented the applicant during the asylum interview with United States Customs and Immigration Services.
Juris DoctorIn addition, Ms. Padilla was an immigration law clerk for Elkind Alterman Harston, located in Denver, Colorado and assisted immigration clients with adjustment of status, asylum, cancellation of removal, defending marriage-based immigration cases, a fiancée visa application, and assisted the attorneys present viable defenses before Denver immigration judges. In addition, Ms. Padilla also volunteered as an immigration law clerk for the Joseph Law Firm, located in Aurora, Colorado. She assisted with asylum, cases involving the Violence Against Women Act, and argued that membership in an organization was not a terrorist organization.
In addition to her immigration experience, Ms. Padilla was also a volunteer judicial intern for Judge Michael A. Martinez in Denver District Court. She also clerked for Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal, a large international law firm in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
During Ms. Padilla’s first year as a law student at the University of Denver, she attended the human rights trial of ex-Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori as an international observer representing DU law school and the Denver legal community.
Prior to moving to Colorado, she graduated from Indiana University with her B.A. in Spanish and Criminal Justice. She had two minors in Latin American Studies and Western European Studies. Ms. Padilla studied at Tecnologico del Monterrey in Cuernavaca, Mexico, Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in Lima, Peru, and at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Madrid, Spain.
Ms. Padilla is bilingual in English and Spanish and is licensed in the state of Colorado and New Mexico. She is currently accepting new clients.
