Biography
Brenna litigates patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets ina range of technologies including medical devices, mechanicalinnovations, consumer goods, and software. She also prosecutes patentson consumer goods, wireless technology, and medical devices, andrepresents her clients in licensing negotiations as well. Herlitigation experience confers a key advantage to her prosecution andlicensing practice, and her judgment, combined with a thoroughunderstanding of her clients’ business priorities, helps ensure thattheir legal dollars are spent efficiently.

Brenna was admitted to practice in the state of Oregon in 2000, theUSPTO in 2002, the Federal Bar for the District of Oregon in 2003, andthe Ninth Circuit in 2004. She serves on the Technology andIntellectual Property Committee of the Oregon Chapter of the AeA. Sheis a member of the Oregon Patent Law Association, the AmericanIntellectual Property Law Association, and the Federal Bar has lectured on intellectual property law for the Oregon BarAssociation. Brenna’s goal is always to resolve her clients’ conflictsoutside the courtroom, but recent courtroom successes include: 1. Smith& Nephew, Inc. and Dr. John O. Hayhurst v. Arthrex, District ofOregon: obtained a verdict of willful patent infringement on behalf ofplaintiffs. 2. Phase Four Industries, Inc. v. Marathon Coach, Inc.,Northern District of California: after successful Markman and summaryjudgment proceedings, obtained a favorable settlement on behalf ofMarathon Coach, the patent holder. 3. Tillamook Country Smoker, Inc. v.Tillamook County Creamery, District of Oregon: obtained summaryjudgment that Tillamook Creamery’s trademark claim was barred by lachesand summary judgment that Tillamook Country Smoker is entitled to itstrademark registration. Both decisions were upheld by the NinthCircuit.
