Biography
Mr. Duque always knew that his goal in life was to help people, especially the "underdog" or people most in need of help. During college Mr. Duque interned at the Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office (East District) under Assistant District Attorney, David E. Demerjian (now head deputy of the Los Angeles Public Integrity Division).
After college, Mr. Duque went on to become an elementary school and high school teacher early in his career. Although teaching was a tremendously fulfilling career, Mr. Duque believed he could help more people by becoming an attorney representing individuals who have been harmed or injured and who did not have the resources to fight back. His students still keep in contact with him to this day.
In pursuit of his goal to practice law, Mr. Duque left teaching in 1999 and was accepted at Whittier College of Law. During law school, Mr. Duque excelled. He was selected to represent Whittier College of Law on its prestigious, Whittier College of Law Trial Advocacy Honors Board. In addition, Mr. Duque was selected as a Judicial Extern under the Honorable Douglas Carnahan at the Torrance Courthouse (Southwest District) where he learned the nuts and bolts of Judicial policy and procedure in Superior Court.
Mr. Duque loves to empower the public and teach people about the law. In 2002, he became an instructor of Paralegal Specialist Certificate Program at InterCoast Colleges in Southern California. His graduate students still keep in contact with him and use him as their resource for legal advice.
After law school, Mr. Duque worked as an attorney for several well-known plaintiff law firms where he quickly honed his courtroom skills and began gaining notoriety among his peers for the results he obtained for his clients. In a short amount of time, he became known among his peers as a dedicated and aggressive advocate for his clients and formidable adversary to the insurance companies who he tirelessly fought on behalf of his clients.
After working for other firms, Mr. Duque knew that if he opened his own firm, he could provide more aggressive representation, better communication with clients, and secure larger settlements for his clients. In 2006, he started his firm and has had a remarkable and successful career that he attributes to his firm's aggressive and relentless pursuit of justice for his clients. As owner and managing attorney of the firm, Mr. Duque has fought for and secured millions of dollars for his clients.
In his spare time, Mr. Duque enjoys surfing and spending time with his family and friends.
