Biography
I am a second-generation Dallas criminal lawyer. I began watching my father, Ed Gray, try cases when I was very young and watched my first murder trial when I was 10 years old. It was a Not Guilty verdict, after which the jury came out of the box and hugged the Defendant who had been protecting his property from a burglar when he shot him 6 times. I knew then that criminal defense law was what I wanted to do. What could be better than defending an innocent person from the forces of evil and unjust prosecution.
My father Ed is a legendary Dallas criminal lawyer who won 99% of his cases as a prosecutor, and most of his cases as a defense lawyer. One notable case that he lost was The State of Texas v. Richard Miles. That conviction was eventually overturned after Centurian Ministries and The Innocence Project uncovered evidence not turned over to the Defense, which proved that Richard Miles was innocent This encouraged my father to write the book entitled Henry Wade's Tough Justice: How Dallas County Presecutors Led the Nation in Convicting the Innocent.

I began my carrer as a civil trial attorney, and was fortunate to spend most of my time either in trial, or depositions, mediations, etc. After a few years fighting over $$$, I decided that there was nothing civil about civil law practice, and felt like I would be happier defending people's liberty than their money or the insurance company's money. I joined my father's criminal practice in 2004 and never looked back.
Since then I have handled more than two thousand criminal cases. In 2009 alone I obtained dismissals in 24 felony cases against my clients in Dallas County alone, and won 2 felony trials with Not Guilty verdicts. I attribute this kind of success to the attitude that my father and I always tried to bring to the courthouse. Every one at the courthouse knows that I will fight until my last breath, and make an enemy of the Judge or the D.A. if necessary to obtain a just outcome for my clients.
