Biography
After graduating from Moeller High School in Cincinnati in 1991, I attended Butler University on a football scholarship and obtained a degree in Business Administration in 1995. I attended the University of Dayton School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor in 1998. Since 1998, I've been admitted to practice law in Ohio.
Thereafter, I became licensed to practice law in the United States District Courts in the Northern and Southern District of Ohio, in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. I am also licensed to practice in Kentucky.
My professional career began while I was still in law school, working as a law clerk in the Hamilton County (Ohio) Prosecutor's Office. After graduation from law school and passing the Ohio Bar, I was hired by the Prosecutor's Office as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, assigned to the Civil Division. In the Civil Division, I was representing Hamilton County, its elected officials and employees, in all civil suits filed against the County. Primarily, I was handling civil rights litigation and the bulk of my practice was in federal court. It was there where I first cut my teeth in the courtroom.
While at the Prosecutor's Office, one of my biggest clients was the Hamilton County Sheriff. In 2001, the Sheriff hired me to serve as one his in-house counsel where I acted as de facto General Counsel to the Hamilton County Sheriff. But in that capacity, while enjoying the "other side" of the practice of law, I missed being in the courtroom and the experiences associated with being a trial lawyer.
So, in 2002 I joined White, Getgey & Meyer as an associate attorney. Back in the courtroom and working at a firm dedicated to litigation and dispute resolution, I entered the private practice of law - and found a home. While my practice has transitioned from the public to the private sector and grown substantially over the years, I still find myself enjoying litigation and the courtroom environment now more than ever. The most satisfying part of it all is helping clients, both individuals and businesses, navigating difficult times but finding resolution through cost-effective and practical solutions. The courtroom is the last place any client wants to be, but when the need arises, I am pleased to have the opportunity to help.
I became a partner at White, Getgey & Meyer in 2007. And I am now the managing partner in charge of the offices in Mason, Columbus and Dayton.
More important than any of that, I am most proud of my family. My wife Shannon and I are the proud parents of six wonderful children: Jack, Sam, Will, Charlie, Andie and Grant. We are members of the St. Columban parish where our kids attend school. When I'm not at work, I'm on the baseball field, soccer field or the basketball court, coaching the kids or at home helping to manage the controlled chaos that we've created. But loving every minute of it.
