Biography
Candice Stoddard has been an attorney in private practice for the past 35 years. Her practice is focused on plaintiff personal injury, probate, real estate litigation and transactional, handling purchase and sale contract disputes, partition, quiet title, fraud/non-disclosure, construction defect and other complex litigation matters. Her experience makes her keenly able to manage negotiations in a wide variety of disputes property related matters. Ms. Stoddard also litigates estate matters, including those arising from financial elder abuse, undue influence and capacity issues.
Candice Stoddard has been a mediator for the past 20 years, and has represented clients in hundreds of mediations.
She has successfully mediated cases involving real estate fraud, quiet title, boundary disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, elder abuse, estate disputes, residential and commercial contract interpretation claims, specific performance, partnership disputes, personal injury and professional malpractice. She is often selected by judges in Contra Costa County as a mediator on specific cases, and is a panelist for the Contra Costa Superior Court ADR Mediation Program.
Candice Stoddard was on the Board of Directors for the Contra Costa Bar Association for 10 years, including 5 years on the Executive Board. She was also Editor of the Contra Costa Lawyer from 2007 - 2010 and was on the Editorial Board for over 10 years. She was past president of the Real Estate Section of the Contra Costa County Bar Association, and is a member of the Mediation Society of Contra Costa County.
After receiving her undergraduate degree from Drake University, Des Moines, IA , Ms. Stoddard attended John F. Kennedy Law School, graduating first in her class. During that time, Candice Stoddard was employed as a licensed private investigator, and held a real estate agent's license. Ms. Stoddard was admitted to the California Bar in 1979. Following graduation, she taught at John F. Kennedy Law School, and was on faculty for ten years.
