Biography
César Dueñas, Esq. is an attorney specializing in business law, wills trust and estates, litigation, arbitration, and international dispute resolution, knowledgeable of civil law and common law litigation as he is admitted to practice law in New York, Florida, District of Columbia, New Jersey, California, and the Republic of Honduras. He holds a J.D. and International Arbitration LL.M. from the University of Miami School of law, an LL.M. for Foreign-Trained Lawyers from Brooklyn Law School, and a Licenciatura en Derecho “Cum Laude” from the Universidad Tecnológica de Honduras.
He has worked as an associate attorney for firms in the areas of commercial litigation, corporate law, trust and estates, probate, trademark, family law, and immigration law. He successfully represented clients in the Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties in Florida, the Immigration Courts of New York, Florida, and New Jersey, as well as the Family Courts in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx, and Nassau counties.
César is actively involved in several professional organizations that reflect his commitment to excellence and leadership in the legal field. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the New York City Estate Planning Council. Additionally, he serves on the Executive Committee of the New York City Bar Association’s Law Student Perspectives Committee (2024-2027). He has been an active member of the Coral Gables Estate Planning Council since 2023 and maintains memberships with the American Bar Association (since 2020) and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (since 2019), where he stays current on issues impacting immigration and estate planning to better serve his clients.
During Law School, he interned for Squire Patton Boggs, and Reed Smith, working for the International Dispute Resolution Groups researching complex international arbitration issues. He also clerked for EPGD Business Law, a Miami-based law firm where he worked for the litigation department and regularly prepared blogpost on
trendy commercial litigation matters.
At the University of Miami, he interned for the Investor Right Clinics, handling securities arbitrations before FINRA. He was involved in cases dealing with the unsuitability of investments, unauthorized trading, excessive trading, churning, failure to supervise, among other claims. He also prepared complex damages calculations based on marked adjusted damages, net out of pocket losses, and loss avoidance damages.
He was also a President of the Miami Law International Arbitration Society, a student organization that promoted the study of international arbitration and established a network between students and arbitration practitioners. He also participated in various International Arbitration Competitions including Moot Madrid, Vis Moot, and the Foreign
Direct Investment (FDI) Moot.
In Honduras, he served as the General Counsel for Mercedes Benz, and for corporate groups in the financial, automotive, telecommunications, and energy sectors. He served as lead counsel in over three hundred cases before the Civil Courts, including matters in excess of one million dollars.
As a personal note, he graduated from the National School of Music in Honduras, where he learned to play the Piano, Saxophone, Accordion, and Flute. He is also a bass-baritone who sang withthe Philharmonic Chorale Association of Honduras in Operas and Choral works.
