Biography
Charlie Kadado is a litigation attorney in Warner’s commercial litigation and family law practice groups. Charlie’s practice is primarily focused on media and communications law, complex family law, divorce, and child custody matters.
A former journalist, Charlie is a skilled communicator with extensive experience working in high-pressure environments. He is highly resourceful and able to remain calm under crisis while maintaining a sharp, strategy-driven focus on the big picture. Clients have described Charlie as “thorough,” “patient,” and skilled at making “sound strategic decisions” with a focus on resolution.
Charlie has worked on highly sensitive and discreet family matters for high-profile individuals and their spouses, including high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, business executives, entertainers, doctors, lawyers, and other professionals. Additionally, Charlie has represented national and local media companies in matters involving newsgathering, media access, and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). His experience in television news management gives him a unique understanding of the media industry’s specific needs and challenges.
Charlie earned his Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University where he won the Journalism Graduate of the Year Award. He earned his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University, cum laude, where he served as a voting editor on the Wayne Law Review and as a member of the Moot Court team. During law school, he worked for the Honorable Terrence G. Berg at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office in the Special Prosecutions Unit.
Charlie was named a Dick Goehler Scholar by the American Bar Association and received the Joseph Grano Prize for Excellence in Constitutional Law. He has been invited to guest lecture at Wayne State University and Michigan State University Law School.
In 2024, Charlie was appointed to the State Bar of Michigan’s Public Outreach and Education Committee. He is also a member of the Detroit Economic Club Young Leader Program and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, where he frequently conducts webinars on media law issues.
