Biography
I concentrate my practice in the areas of business and commercial law, representing clients in matters involving mergers and acquisitions, real estate and real estate development, construction law and commercial transactions. My experience has focused on a wide variety of commercial transactions and solving business problems for clients. Representation of business clients also includes estate and succession planning.
I am a member of the Cincinnati, Ohio and Kentucky Bar Associations, and served on the Cincinnati advisory board to the American Youth Foundation from 1989 through 1996, serving as its Chairman from 1991 until 1994. I am also a member of the board of trustees of the Madeira and Indian Hill Joint Fire District having served since 1992. I served as Secretary from 1995 until 1999 and as the Vice President of the Joint Fire District from 1999 to 2006. From 1992 to the present, I have also served as an officer and a member of the board of trustees of the Madeira and Indian Hill Fire Company, an Ohio not-for-profit organization.
In 2008, I was named by Cincinnati Magazine as an “Ohio Super Lawyer”. Again, in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, I was named by Cincinnati Magazine as an “Ohio Super Lawyer”. In addition, for 2008, 2011 and 2012 the Cincinnati Business Courier placed me in the "Top 25" List of Who’s Who in Law (in Cincinnati).
I was a senior attorney at Santen & Hughes handling the case of Taylor Building Corporation of America vs. Benfield, recently decided by the Ohio Supreme Court. In its decision, the Supreme Court entered a landmark decision regarding the rights of Ohio contractors and businesses to arbitrate disputes pursuant to a contractual arbitration clause. The Taylor decision protects the enforcement of arbitration contracts and provides for a quick and efficient procedure for removing contract disputes to alternative dispute resolution.
I am admitted to all courts of the State of Ohio and Commonwealth of Kentucky, as well as the Federal Courts for the Southern District of Ohio, Eastern District of Kentucky, and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
