Biography
Charles S. (Chuck) Sara is a registered patent attorney and the chair of the DeWitt Ross & Stevens Intellectual Property practice group in Madison, WI. Chuck focuses his practice on U.S. and foreign patents and trademarks, copyright matters, design patents, litigation, client counseling, and licensing and technology transfer issues. He has handled a wide variety of patents covering monoclonal antibodies, food products, dog cages, fishing lures, hunting equipment, medical products and trees to name a few. He also helps protect names (trademarks), and books, music and software (copyrights).
Chuck is the author of the chapter on patents in the Wisconsin Attorneys Desk Reference and a frequent guest speaker on the topics of intellectual property and licensing law. He received his law degree from the George Mason University School of Law (Virginia) in 1981, an A.B. from the University of North Carolina in 1972, and has a dairy science background from Virginia Tech. Prior to law school, Chuck taught at a high school military school in Virginia where he also coached football and wrestling.
When not practicing law or being with his family, Chuck is an avid photographer, likes to ski and bike, and is still struggling to learn the guitar.
