Cody is a proud midwesterner, born and raised in small town Iowa. Cody journeyed to Lincoln to attend the Univeristy of Nebraska Lincoln where he graduated Magna cum Laude in 2007 with a Degree in Criminal Justice. Cody attended Creighton Univeristy School of Law and graduated in 2010, and while attending law school clerked at various law offices including: the Pottawattamie County Attorney's Office, the Air Force JAG Office, and the Douglas County Attorney's Office.

After law school, Cody worked as a Felony Prosecutor for over 10 years at the Douglas County Attorney's Office where he was a member of the Felony DUI unit focusing on Felony DUI's, DUI Serious Bodily Injuries, Misdemeanor Motor Vehicle Homicides, Manslaughter and Felony Motor Vehicle Homicides. Cody also has extensive practice in Felony Drug Crimes and Violent Crime.
