Biography
Cyrus Whittaker, Esq. is an experienced and aggressive litigation and trial attorney focusing in the areas of personal injury, employment law, and tenants' rights (with special focus in the City and County of Los Angeles, including the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Ordinance--particularly with habitability issues and illegal unit litigation). Mr. Whittaker is passionate about fighting for clients to receive the maximum monetary recovery--while also being direct and upfront to clients about the realistic value and goals for each case. Mr. Whittaker operates a boutique law firm with a small client load, and there is a detailed screening process before accepting each client. This allows for the attention that a case fully needs and deserves, rather than taking a mill-type approach to cases. Mr. Whittaker also works as "Of Counsel" to prestigous trial and litigation firms, assisting these firms with their high-value litigation and trial matters as additional co-counsel.
Prior to launching his own law firm, Mr. Whittaker worked at two large prestigious international law firms, several smaller litigation firms, and at the City Attorney's Office of Los Angeles as a criminal prosecutor, where he completed multiple criminal trials to verdict in Downtown Los Angeles courtrooms. He has tried over twenty-five jury trials to verdict since becoming licensed to practice law in 2016, including both civil and criminal matters, in both CA and NV. He has often been brought onto cases by other attorneys at the last-minute in order to try the matters in front of the jury--often resulting in verdicts many multiples of what the highest pre-trial offers were.
Mr. Whittaker is licensed to practice in both California and Nevada, as well as Federal Courts. He has also passed the UBE bar examination for qualifying admission into all UBE jurisdictions. Mr. Whittaker served as an adjunct professor of Federal and California Civil Procedure, for the People’s College of Law, in Los Angeles, CA, for the 2021-2022 academic school year.
Mr. Whittaker came from a very humble background, and had a strong desire to change his circumstances and achieve success. Through sheer hard work, self-study, and discipline, he obtained an impressive educational background. He is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Mr. Whittaker later obtained his law degree from UCLA School of Law, consistently ranked as one of the "Top 15" law schools in the country and among the best in the world. In addition, Mr. Whittaker is a self-taught, fluent Spanish speaker, and frequently represents mono-lingual Spanish clients. Mr. Whittaker applies the same drive and motivation to each of his client's cases--never settling for mediocre results, and always fighting to obtain the highest and best value for his clients.
Mr. Whittaker obtains the maximum monetary recovery for his clients through aggressive and strategic pre-litigation, litigation, and trial when needed. Paid consultations ($100 for an initial 30-minute consultation) via the phone or virtually directly with Mr. Whittaker are available seven days per week. Mr. Whittaker heavily screens clients to make sure that it is a good fit--this is not a one-size-fits-all law practice, and only a handful of clients are represented at a time.
