I've lived in Western Massachusetts since graduating law school in 1982.  After four years as a corporate lawyer with Mass Mutual, I stepped away from the practice of law for about a year and a half, in order to experience other aspects of life.  I started practicing law again in 1988, as a public defender.  Over the years and as I've gained valuable experience, I've become an expert in criminal defense and one of the most highly regarded criminal defense attorneys in Hampshire County.  I've expanded my practice to include general civil litigation, personal injury, auto accidents, landlord/tenant, gun and driver's license issues and judicial appeals of agency decisions.  My philosophy has always been to treat each case, each court appearance, as an opportunity to demonstrate my competence and commitment to justice.  I am currently a partner in a small firm with two other fine attorneys who share my values and desire to advance the notion that lawyers are creative problem solvers, advocates for fairness in practice and policy, defenders of the hurt and the disadvantaged, and capable of using the law to better the lives of our clients and help them achieve their goals.
