Dru Nielsen is a founding partner of Eytan Nielsen, focusing her work on defending boy and men who are wrongly accused of domestic violence or sexual misconduct in both the university disciplinary and criminal proceedings. She is also a former Deputy State of Colorado Public Defender, serving as the Felony Division Lead in the Denver Trial Office.

In 2007, Dru joined Iris Eytan and Larry Pozner in the criminal practice group of Reilly Pozner as a partner specializing as a corporate representative in complex cases involving bank fraud, embezzlement, forgery, environmental schemes including OSHA, cybercrime, and investment fraud in Federal Court. In 2015, Dru and her longtime criminal defense partner, Iris Eytan, formed Eytan Nielsen LLC with the goal of providing the highest level of representation and service to those facing allegations of wrongdoing.

Dru has been recognized by her peers for her work in criminal defense and has gathered a number of prestigious accolades: one of the Best Criminal Defenders: General Practice (2013-2019) in Colorado Super Lawyers®; as one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in the state (2010, 2014); and inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® edition under the specialty of White-Collar Criminal Defense since 2013. Dru is also rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale-Hubbell® which is a reflection of her professional excellence, high ethical standards and legal ability.

She was on the board of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and has lectured to hundreds of criminal defense attorneys on subjects like trial tactics and procedure. She also served on the Colorado Jury System Standing Committee, which is charged with implementing the Supreme Court’s recommendations on jury reform.
