There are two values of practicing law that I have come to appreciate most: overcoming legal challenges and helping people. Over the course of my career in criminal law, I have effectively defended clients against violations of their constitutional rights, wrongful charges, and unjust punishments--in cases ranging from Murder to OUI. I have also counseled and advocated for clients in contentious family matters as well as a variety of other civil and probate cases. In doing so, my diligence, creativity, and skill have allowed me to surmount legal difficulties and achieve justice for my clients.

I was born and raised in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. I attended the University of Vermont and earned a degree in English in 2006. I returned to Maine to attend the University of Maine School of Law. During that time, I published an article in the Maine Law Review and served as the journal's Executive Editor; I also gained real world experience at the Volunteer Lawyers Project and Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. In 2010, I graduated from law school cum laude and was presented with the Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award for Business and Commercial Law. After law school, I worked for five years as an associate attorney at a local law firm, where I gained an extraordinary amount of valuable experience in all aspects of criminal and civil litigation. In 2016, I began my own firm, the Law Offices of Dylan Boyd, in Portland, Maine.

I am licensed to practice in Maine courts as well as the United States District Court for the District of Maine and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.  I am a member of the American Bar Association, Maine State Bar Association, and Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
