Edward M. Rappaport served as a Supreme Court Justice of the State of New York from 1990 through 2003. During that time, he presided over numerous cases, including criminal cases, medical malpractice cases, negligence and wrongful death cases, as well as cases involving various commercial matters. Prior to this, Judge Rappaport had a law firm that handled a broad range of cases. There, he supervised a staff of six attorneys and served as managing attorney of the firm. Judge Rappaport is renowned for his criminal law practice and served as Chief Counsel to the Patrolman’s Benevolence Association of the Police Department of the City of New York and to the Detective Endowment Association. He has also served as an Assistant District Attorney (1962) and served in the Investigations Department, Grand Jury Indictment Bureau, Criminal Court and Supreme Court.
