Biography
Silverman is my maiden name. My father was Cecil Silverman, a jewish shop owner in Dublin Ireland who served in the RAF in World War II. My mother, Margaret Silverman, was a Catholic apprenticed as a baker and confectionare in Dublin where she met my father. At the time, marriages between different religions was not allowed. They came to America to be married.
While my background was probably lower middle class, I always felt extremely privileged. I was well loved and ate better than most adults I know. I attended a Catholic private school until 9th grade when I started in the public schools. I learned to argue in Catholic schools. The nuns wanted us to believe that only Catholics go to heaven. My fellow classmates were relieved when we didn't finish our classwork on the occasions where I spent alot of class time disagreeing with the nuns.
I wanted to be a lawyer since I was 12 years old. I got my first job when I was 12, working in a battery and television tube warehouse for $1.00 an hour. When I turned 16, I worked at the White Castle at 8 Mile and Woodward. I continued waitressing until I started law school. I worked at the Golden Mushroom under Chef Milos, the Troy Hilton Hay Market and Machus Red Fox.
I was able to qualify for a Michigan Competitive Scholarship which paid for most of my tuition and books at University of Michigan-Dearborn where I earned by Bachelor's Degree. I attended Wayne State Law School and graduated in 1984.
I love what I do for a living. I have a general practice which includes real estate, wills, collections, litigation, estates, business law and family law. I tend to specialize in litigation and family law. I believe that I am ethical and have no problem recommending a client to another attorney if I feel the other attorney would do a better job. i am also not afraid to be honest with my clients and will tell you if, in my opinion, you do not have a case.
I moved from Royal Oak to Clarkston in 2007 with my husband of 26 years, Ronnie Rockman. I have two large rescue dogs which help keep me fit with regular walks. Following in my mother's footsteps, I also love to cook and to garden.
