Biography
Liz is a personal injury and civil litigation attorney in Atlanta. Her practice primarily focuses on serious personal injury cases of all types, including automobile accidents, trucking accidents, motorcycle accidents, premises liability, negligent security and/or hiring, product liability, professional malpractice, wrongful death and other cases involving serious or catastrophic injury or negligence.
After a brief career in sales and marketing, she went on to receive her law degree from Ohio Northern University where she graduated in the top 10% of her class with distinction. Liz began her legal career representing consumers and, in 2008, was recruited by a firm specializing in mortgage default services. In 2010, Liz was asked to join a newly formed firm where she became partner and handled various mortgage banking litigation.
In 2012, she left the life of billable hours and corporate representation to serve as a lobbyist and to assist her husband in expanding his growing practice, The Shah Law Firm where she is now specializes in catastrophic personal injury and civil litigation cases. Liz now serves as Managing Partner of The Shah Law Firm, as Parag has started a full time mediation practice at Miles Mediation.
Liz is a member of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL) and the Atlanta Bar Association. She has volunteered through Dress for Success; Atlanta Volunteer Lawyer’s Foundation; the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program; the pro bono Eviction Defense program; Fisher House; and the Getting2Tri Foundation. Liz previously served as a board member to, and Endowment Chair of, GAWL's charitable arm, the GAWL Foundation and as a Board Member of the Gandhi Worldwide Education Institute, handling their blogging, social media and grant work. Currently, Liz serves on the Board of Directors for the Nicholas House and is their Secretary, working to end family homelessness in Atlanta; and also serves on the Board of Directors for Side by Side Brain Injury Clubhouse, assisting those with traumatic brain injuries and their families and caregivers with everyday life.
Liz has been a speaker at, and contributed written materials to, CLE programs. She is also a featured speaker and adjunct faculty member, teaching courses on Jury Selection and Cross Examination, during Winter Term at Ohio Northern University's Claude W. Pettit College of Law each year.
Liz is "AV" rated by Martindale Hubbell and rated 10 out of 10 by . She has been nominated by SuperLawyers to the 2020 Georgia Rising Stars list. She is a founder of the continuing education and publishing company, MyCLE, and a contributing author of three Georgia pocketbooks: The Code Criminal & Traffic, The Code Civil and The Code Evidence ().
Although a lawyer by trade, Liz’s real passion is running and nutrition. She worked as a yoga teacher and in marketing and social media for evolation yoga in Midtown, Atlanta. Liz is also a RRCA certified running coach, a 250 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, a former Ambassador for the Xterra Racing Series, and her advice on running, fitness, and nutrition has been featured in running related blogs, websites, and publications including a chapter on trail running in, “Triathlon for the Every Woman,” by Meredith N. Atwood.
