Biography
Erin Conway Johnsen focuses her practice on assisting franchisees and dealers resolve their disputes with franchisors. Erin has assisted franchisees in all stages of their franchise relationships, including reviewing franchise agreements and franchise disclosure documents for prospective franchisees, drafting franchise agreement addenda, negotiating agreement changes with franchisors, and helping franchisees exit their franchise relationships as smoothly as possible.
Erin has worked with franchisees in a variety of industries, including food, fitness, medical, retail, and publishing, among others. Erin also represents clients in the craft brewery and distillery industries with a variety of business needs.
Erin is a 2012 cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, where she served as an editor of the Minnesota Law Review, and was the recipient of the Dean's Distinguished Scholarship, the Montreville J. Brown Scholarship, and a Robina Public Policy Fellowship. During law school, she worked as a student director of the Special Education Law Clinic, and for the Board of Veterans' Appeals in Washington, D.C. She did her undergraduate work at Duke University, where she was honored on the Dean's List.
In 2013, Erin received the prestigious Rising Scholar Writing Competition Award from the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising. Her article, "No Fair! Finding an Equitable Balance in Enforcement of Disclaimer Provisions in Franchise Agreements and Franchise Disclosure Documents," was selected as the best entry among lawyers less than four years out of law school, and was published in the Winter 2014 issue of the Franchise Law Journal.
