Biography
George Chakmakis has practiced Personal Injury law since 1992. He was included in the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 Super Lawyers List for Personal Injury. That honor was published in Los Angeles Magazine, Super Lawyers Magazine, and the New York Times. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
With over 26 years of experience, Mr. Chakmakis’ focuses primarily on car accidents, personal injury, motorcycle and bicycle crashes, pedestrian v. vehicle incidents, and wrongful death. George has litigated high value complex cases to trial in the areas of car crashes, wrongful death, dog bites, defective product liability, and design defects. He has a proven ability to consistently obtain large settlements and trial verdicts for his clients. Mr. Chakmakis also practices all areas of aviation law. He uses his knowledge and experience as a pilot to navigate the complex issues that are part of every aviation incident and transaction, including enforcement actions against the FAA.
Mr. Chakmakis has also tried cases involving: strict products liability, medical malpractice, fraud, and business torts; including trials in state and federal court, and against multiple government entities. George also represented white collar criminal defendants in state and federal courts, including cases involving copyright and trademark infringement, business licenses, and other professional issues.
In 2012, Mr. Chakmakis was honored to be a guest speaker at the largest annual attorneys’ convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Chakmakis has also acted as Judge Pro Tem in the Los Angeles Superior Court. He sat on the bench in Metro Court, Van Nuys, Huntington Park, Culver City, and Beverly Hills; and has heard cases including contract disputes, personal injuries, and traffic. George is also a member and panel attorney for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Prior to founding Chakmakis & Associates, George worked in the Los Angeles offices of Gilbert, Kelly, Crowley & Jennett where he primarily represented large corporations and insurance companies in litigation matters.
George is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and Southwestern Law School. He is also an instrument rated pilot and enjoys flying in his free time.
