Biography
Aggressive. Determined. Honest. Legal services personalized to your specific needs.
I have a wide range of experience, all of which has proven to be of great benefit to my clients. Before attending law school, I was a police officer, which gives me a thorough understanding of the Fourth Amendment and police practices and procedures.
After law school, I clerked for Justice Michael F. Cavanagh at the Michigan Supreme Court, gaining unique insights into the shape and direction of Michigan law. I also worked in the Supreme Court Commissioners' Office during law school, which helped me to become familiar with the process for winning an application for leave to appeal.
One of my favorite jobs was teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to Japanese, Korean, and Chinese students, an experience that gave me a particular interest in the issues affecting those who come to the United States on immigrant or non-immigrant visas. Securing a green card is step one. Keeping it can be even harder because many immigrants have no idea of their legal requirements--such as foreign bank account reporting (FBAR) or the consequences of certain criminal convictions. Thus, the issues affecting immigrants after they receive a green card are one of my areas of special interest.
I visit Japan regularly and speak intermediate Korean and beginning Japanese.
My hobbies and interests include astronomy, philosophy, and cooking. My first jobs were all in the restaurant industry and I was a chef in my 20s. Cooking remains a source of great joy. I find it very relaxing to think about cases while slicing, chopping, and stir frying for my friends and family.
