Biography
Heather A. Engman joined Breakstone, White & Gluck in the spring of 2005 as an associate, concentrating her practice in personal injury and professional liability litigation on behalf of plaintiffs. Ms. Engman graduated from Colby College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1997. In 2005, Ms. Engman completed a dual degree program, receiving her Juris Doctor from Northeastern University School of Law and her Master of Public Health from Tufts University. Ms. Engman is a member of the Women’s Bar Association (WBA), the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA), the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (MATA), and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA).
After graduating from Colby College in Waterville, Maine in 1997, and prior to entering the legal field, Ms. Engman worked as a Research Assistant at the Massachusetts General Hospital in a laboratory studying genetic causes for Lou Gehrig’s disease and muscular dystrophies.
During law school Ms. Engman served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph Tauro at the Federal District Court in Boston, the firms Motley Rice (Providence, Rhode Island) and Thornton & Naumes (Boston, Massachusetts), and the Family Advocacy Program at the Boston Medical Center, which provides legal services to low-income children whose legal issues adversely affect their health.
Heather’s public health degree and science background make her uniquely qualified to work on medical malpractice and personal injury cases, by providing her with an expertise in statistics, epidemiology, biology, and science, as well as quality of care and patient safety issues. This education allows Ms. Engman to understand and analyze the medical and scientific literature and patient medical records.
