James Helm is a Philadelphia personal injury attorney and the founder of TopDog Law. He is a life-long native of Pennsylvania. Helm was born and raised in Media, Pennsylvania and is a proud alumni of the Penn State Nittany Lions. To date, James Helm remains actively involved in Delaware County, participating in a number of community initiatives. In particular, he spends his time and money to combat the opioid epidemic – an issue that he cares deeply about.

James graduated cum laude from Rutgers Law School and cum laude from Rutgers School of Business. During law school, he had the opportunity to intern for Judge Jerome Simandle, Chief Judge for the United States District Court, District of New Jersey. Later, he spent a full scholastic year as an intern for Judge L. Felipe Restrepo at the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. These experiences, along with spending a summer at a big defense firm in Philadelphia, left him convinced that he wanted to dedicate his life advocating for victims of tragic accidents – not insurance companies.

Outside the legal profession, James is a believer in building a “life resume” and is constantly looking for new challenges that stretch his capabilities. In January 2018, he ran his first marathon in Miami. He is also learning to ride a dirt bike in addition to regularly riding his motorcycle around the Philadelphia area. James knows the the bias against motorcycle riders personally and works tirelessly to fight the stigma against bikers and get injured motorcyclists the best possible recovery.

He zealously advocates for victims and their families who have suffered significant injuries including birth injuries, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and wrongful death.
