After 37 years of family law litigation, Jim now devotes his practice to mediating and arbitrating family law cases. He uses his years of experience representing over 1,900 clients to successfully resolve disputes in mediation. Jim has mediated over 1000 family law cases with a 90% success rate. Using his 22 years of experience as a Municipal Court Judge, he arbitrates with the goal of achieving a fair and equitable result for the parties. Jim has mediated and arbitrated a myriad of issues including decision-making and parenting time, child support, complex property division, maintenance/alimony, paternity, and the award of attorney fees and costs.

Jim has earned the respect of his clients, his peers, and judges. He was recognized as Lawyer of the Year in Family Law Mediation by Best Lawyers in 2021. Jim was named by Law Week as the Barrister’s Best, People’s Choice for Best Mediator in 2019. He has been voted as one of the Best Lawyers in America in Family Law and Family Law Mediation for the past 12 years. Jim has been named as a Colorado Super Lawyer in Family Law for 14 years and a Top 100 Colorado Super Lawyer in 2019.
