Biography
Jim was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1999, at which time he began practicing in oil and gas law. Jim subsequently worked in general practice (business litigation; uncontested probate; real estate); and in litigation (Federal communication theft before Federal courts), before returning to oil and gas law in 2004, upon which time he focused on mineral title. More recently, Jim has reviewed and analyzed proposed participation agreements, joint operating agreements, production handling agreements, and other instruments relating to the purchase and sale of producing oil and gas properties; assisted in litigation involving breach of contract, wrongful ejectment, and wrongful denial of surface access; and researched questions of law such as whether offshore environmental obligations survive bankruptcy.
After relocating to his hometown of Tucson in October of 2015, Jim was admitted to the Arizona Bar in January of 2016. Since his admission to the Arizona Bar, Jim has practiced in criminal defense, civil litigation, business contracts, wills and probate, environmental consulting, and public land records research.
