Janis Carney is the Co-Founder of Widlast Legal, along with her daughter Lara Grisemer. Janis has over thirty years of legal experience specific to long term care planning, elder law, estate planning, and trust & estate administration. In 1996, Janis became a certified specialist by the California Bar Board of Legal Specialization in the field of Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law, a designation awarded to less than one percent (1%) of attorneys in California. In 2005, she became only the eighth attorney in California to be awarded the distinction of being a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, and today remains one of only 27 such attorneys in California. Janis has been recognized by Super Lawyers as one of the top five percent of elder law attorneys in Northern California each year since 2006, has long held a 5-star rating (the highest rating available) on Lawyergist, and has an “AV Preeminent” (the highest rating standard) Peer Review rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
