Biography
I am a partner at Portland, Oregon-based Bodyfelt Mount, and my litigation practice focuses on the defense of companies and individuals in liability and insurance coverage disputes. My work encompasses general and products liability, construction defect, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and insurance coverage. I have litigated many cases throughout Oregon and Washington, obtaining favorable and cost-effective results for clients, including a summary judgment in favor of a contractor in a $10,000,000 construction defect lawsuit. I handle all aspects of litigation, from pre-lawsuit claims and continuing through arbitration, mediation, trial and appeal.
I began practicing law as a prosecutor for the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office. While there, I tried many jury and bench trials to verdict and developed a reputation as an excellent trial attorney. I also worked closely with Portland Police officers, drafting search warrants and accompanying officers on search and seizure missions. I tried numerous cases in which excessive police force was raised as a defense and received a commendation from the Portland Chief of Police for my trial work. After moving to the civil side, I specialized in the defense of municipal actions, including 42 USC 1983 cases. In particular, I successfully defended several class action lawsuits involving the constitutionality of detention center strip search policies.
Based on peer reviews, I earned an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell for my legal ability and high ethical standards.
