Biography
Jason Tyler Landress has been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1997, when he moved here from Long Island, N.Y. with his family.
In 2001, upon graduating from the newly formed Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs, Jason pursued his undergraduate degree at the University of Denver where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and graduated with honors (Cum Laude and Phi Betta Kappa).
Jason then attended Washburn University School of Law where he developed his passion for trial advocacy. In 2007, after winning a place on Washburn’s highly ranked Moot Court team, Jason was twice selected by the law school faculty to represent Washburn nationally in both the John J. Gibbon’s Criminal Procedure Competition held at Seton Hall University School of Law in New Jersey and the Judge James J. Braxten Craven Jr. Moot Court Competition held at the University of North Carolina School of Law. At both competitions, he led his team to the finals, securing both a semi-finalist and quarter- finalist trophy for Washburn.
Based on his passion for advocacy while at Washburn, Jason graduated in 2008 with a Certification in Trial Advocacy, which was presented to him by Washburn’s Center for Excellence in Advocacy. It was this same group that selected him to become a member of Washburn’s chapter within The Order of Barristers (a national honorary organization whose purpose is to provide national recognition for individuals who have excelled in advocacy and service at their respective schools).
From 2009 – 2012, Jason was a Deputy District Attorney for El Paso County. He took to trial many cases ranging from major traffic and DUI offenses; misdemeanors including domestic violence, assaults, child abuse, etc.; as well as both adult and juvenile felonies. He was made a member of the Vehicular Homicide and Assault Unit and worked for a short time in the Juvenile Special Victims Unit. It was through these experiences he learned that he was called to be an advocate for those who had been wronged or injured through no fault of their own.
Jason is a member of the Colorado and El Paso County Bar Associations, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and is admitted to practice before Colorado’s State and Federal Courts, including the Colorado Division of Workers’ Compensation. In 2012, Jason was appointed the Vice Chair of the New Lawyers Section of the El Paso County Bar Association and is currently the Chair of that Section. Jason also became a member of Christian Legal Society while in law school and, upon graduating, became a member of the Colorado Springs Chapter of Christian Legal Society. Shortly after becoming a member, Jason was asked to serve on the Board of Directors as well as Chair the group’s Outreach Committee. In an effort to pass along his passion for advocacy to a future generation, Jason also coaches the Mock Trial Team at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs and has led the team to a national competition every year he has coached.
