Attorney Jennifer (Jen) C. Smith brings a wealth of knowledge, extensive domestic violence training, and litigation experience to her family law practice. She began her career as a legal aid attorney, exclusively supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. During her time in legal aid, Jen assisted many clients on their paths to independence and freedom.

As a divorcee, Jen understands that family law matters can be deeply emotional. She draws from her personal experiences and works closely with clients, ensuring they feel understood, supported, and heard. Her goal is to help clients achieve resolutions that satisfy their needs. Jen believes this is best accomplished by keeping clients informed of their options and empowering them to make decisions that benefit their families.

Additionally, Jen is passionate about assisting individuals facing challenges within the criminal justice system, whether helping the innocent remain guilt-free or supporting those who have made mistakes. She believes in the potential for redemption and strives to help her clients navigate their legal troubles while recognizing their inherent goodness. By providing support and guidance, Jen empowers her clients to learn from their experiences and make positive changes in their lives. She finds her criminal defense work rewarding, as she witnesses the growth and commitment of her clients as they work toward getting back on the right path.

Known for her bubbly personality, Jen can also be a bit of a firecracker. She prides herself on integrity and treating both clients and colleagues with respect.

A lifelong resident of Macomb County, Jen loves Michigan’s fall weather. When she’s not practicing law, she enjoys attending concerts, taking her Labrador Retriever, Stormy, for long walks, and spending time with family. friends, and her Siamese cat, Ali.
