Biography
Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals,
and the Utah Supreme Court. Practice includes all facets of intellectual property law with an emphasis on the preparation and prosecution of patent, trademark and copyright applications in the United States and foreign countries. Also engages in the preparation of licensing, publishing, and other agreements related to intellectual property as well as opinions regarding infringement, validity and availability of patents, trademarks, and copyrights. He also engages in inter partes proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and due diligence investigations regarding intellectual property portfolios.
Practice includes experience with a number of technologies including computer software/Internet, business methods, medical device and biomedical technologies, and general mechanical systems.
Received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah and a Juris Doctorate from George Washington University. Has served as Vice Chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the Utah Bar Association from 1988-1999 and as Chairman from 1999-2000. Has been actively involved in the American Intellectual Property Law Association and has served on the Executive Committee of the Copyright Law Section and as Chairman of the Copyright Transactional Issues Subcommittee. Is a member of the International Trademark Association and has taught as an Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. Currently serves as a court-appointed mediator for the United States District Court for the District of Utah.
