Biography
I grew up in south Texas and joined the U.S. Army right out of school. I served three years as a Infantry Bradley Gunner in the First Calvary Division. After visiting Central Pennsylvania many times, I moved to Myerstown after completing my service. I attended two years at HACC – Lebanon Campus and then transferred to Alvernia College where I completed a Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Systems. While at Alvernia I was awarded the Founding Deans award and maintained a 3.8 GPA. Upon completing my B.S. degree, I continued my education at Alvernia College by enrolling in the Master of Business Administration program, which I completed in 1 1/2 years.
In 2007, I enrolled in the Juris Doctor program at Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, Pa. I attended law school full time in the evenings while working a full time engineering job for a local machine shop. While in law school, I participated in the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) which provides free legal services to the elderly and others who are unable to afford tax preparation services. In the late fall of 2009, three other students and I worked with the Widener Environmental Law Center and created the Harrisburg Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic. The new Clinic officially opened in January 2010 and very quickly began providing pro bono services to Pennsylvania citizens in need of environmental law legal services.
I was awarded my Juris Doctor degree from Widener Law in May 2011 and was admitted to the Bar by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in October 2011. Since January 2011, I have been working with the Pennsylvania Bar Association as a writer and editor for the Energy and Environmental Law Section Newsletter. Lastly, I have been honored by Pittsburgh Journal of Environmental and Public Health Law to have an article about Bio-diesel that I wrote published in their upcoming issue this winter.
