Biography
National Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate- National Board of Trial Advocacy
“I became a lawyer to make a difference. There are very few professions in this world where an individual can truly change the lives of those in need. A lawyer is one of them. I have dedicated my life to this. I am focused on helping advocate for the people whose voices would otherwise go unheard. Justice and fairness are important to me. As a lawyer, I have the unique opportunity to seek justice for those who were harmed at the hand of another. No one deserves to be hurt because of another’s negligence. No family deserves to grieve the premature death of a loved one. It is my mission and my passion to speak up for those people. Every morning that I walk into my office I make a promise to do whatever is necessary to make up for those harms and losses.”
Joseph R. Rossetti is a principal of Renehan & Rossetti, LLP and one of its founding members. Joseph received his undergraduate degree from Fairfield University and his law degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Connecticut Superior Court, U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, and Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court. His practice is limited to the representation of injured persons and their families. Joseph primarily handles motor vehicle collisions, premises liability cases, and product liability matters. Over the course of his career, he has focused his efforts on cases involving complex medical causation and those with multiple expert witnesses.
Joseph is a National Board-Certified Civil Trial Advocate. When this honor was first achieved in November 2016, he was the youngest member of the Connecticut Bar to obtain this professional classification. Board Certification is awarded through documented trial work, credentials, ethics, peer review, and intense written examination. Joseph was recently re-certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Joseph has also been recognized as a New Leader of the Law by the Connecticut Law Tribune, a Super Lawyers Rising Star year after year, and a Top 40 Under 40 Advocate by the National Trial Lawyers.
Joseph has successfully tried well over 100 cases to verdict- both bench trial and jury trial. He has resolved countless matters through mediation and arbitration. He has taken and defended thousands of discovery depositions and resolved countless matters in both mediation and binding arbitration. He received one of the highest premises liability jury verdicts in 2017 with a 1.4-million-dollar award on a contested case in the Judicial District of Waterbury. The pretrial offer in that case was only $10,000. This is just one of the many cases where the final outcome for his clients have been far in excess of the insurance carrier’s “last best offer”.
Joseph both worked and volunteered at Bridgeport Hospital for more than a decade prior to becoming a lawyer. During his time there, he gained valuable medical experience while witnessing, first hand, the pain and suffering that can result from the negligence of others. Joseph also served as a licensed Emergency Medical Technician in the State of Connecticut. From this, he brings a unique perspective and background of knowledge to all personal injury cases. His past experience and interest in medicine have proved to be particularly beneficial for his clients in all cases involving complex medicine and/or difficult causation scenarios.
Joseph also served as an instructor/coach for the Quinnipiac University School of Law Mock Trial Honor Society for over five years. There, he mentored future lawyers on all aspects of trial preparation and presentation. He still regularly participates in judging and evaluating student advocates in mock trial competitions throughout the year.
Joseph resides in Prospect with his wife and colleague, Amita P. Rossetti, and their family.
