Joe handles a wide range of cases and practice areas, including bankruptcy, agriculture, civil litigation, business litigation, corporate restructuring, tax disputes, tax representation, and consumer protection litigation, just to name a few.

He has been selected and included as Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 in Business Bankruptcy. Joe was also selected by Business North Carolina in 2018, 2019, and 2020 for Bankruptcy and part if Young Guns in 2018.

Following law school,Joe served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable J. Rich Leonard, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina (retired), and judicial law clerk to the Honorable Stephani W. Humrickhouse, Chief United States Bankruptcy Judges for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Joe has authored and contributed to articles and publications, including The Disclosure Statement and North Carolina Bankruptcy Practice Manual 8th Edition. During law school, he received the Judge William M. Moore Scholarship and academic excellence awards in Legal Research & Writing, Employment Law and Judicial Writing.
