A native of Oregon, Ken received his law degree from the University of Oregon School of law in 2005 and has been practicing family law since 2007.  Ken received his bachelor's degree in English from the University of Oregon in 1994.  During law school, Ken worked as a law clerk at Jaqua & Wheatley, in Eugene, Oregon. He has also worked as an Unemployment Insurance adjudicator for the State of Oregon Employment Department. Prior to law school, Ken was a case assistant at Stoel Rives, in Portland, Oregon, and a waiter at Oba, also in Portland.  From 2007 until 2023, Ken practiced at Stahancyk, Kent & Hook where he was a shareholder.  

Ken performed pro bono work through Lane County Legal Aid while in law school. He has also volunteered for the Greenhouse shelter for homeless youth in Portland, Oregon, and has worked as a volunteer forester for the US Forest Service. Ken enjoys spending time outdoors with his family and also reading science fiction. He is an avid fisherman and runner, and has been a Nike footwear field tester.

Ken believes that thorough case preparation is the key to winning or negotiating the best outcome for his clients, which is his number one goal. Ken meticulously and methodically prepares his clients' cases, building a foundation for a winning legal argument integrated with carefully researched legal precedent. Hard work is the cornerstone of Ken's practice.  

Ken is also deeply devoted to his clients and takes a personal interest in each case. "People going through a difficult divorce or custody battle can get frustrated with the 'system.' They need the assistance of an attorney who cares about what happens to them. Someone who can explain the process and keep things moving forward," he says." I work hard to move clients past their difficulties, so they can get on with their lives. It makes me feel good when I can lift that burden from their shoulders." Ken has a proven ability to keenly assess each client's situation and tailor an approach best suited to a successful outcome.  

Ken has successfully litigated divorces involving business interests and issues of business valuation.  Because of the attention to detail involved in these cases, Ken enjoys and excels at resolving complex property division and large asset cases.
