He is a lifelong resident of Central Indiana who left for just long enough to attend law school at the University of Dayton, where he was a member of the Honor Counsel and recognized for his pro bono work. At Boren, Oliver & Coffey, LLP Kris has focused on eminent domain, personal injury, and criminal law.
In 2014, Kris graduated from the Trial Advocacy Skills College. In 2017, Kris was named a Top 40 Litigation Lawyer under 40 in the State of Indiana by the American Society of Legal Advocates. In 2019, Kris was named Top 40 Under 40 for Criminal Defense by the National Trial Lawyers. In 2019, Kris was elected by the legal community to be the president of the Morgan County Bar Association.
Kris is an experienced trial attorney who has tried multiple jury trials in both civil and criminal law cases. His jury trial experience ranges from Level 1 felony criminal cases to representing those who have been injured in civil cases. In Kris’ civil practice, he has represented landowners throughout South Central Indiana in land condemnation disputes involving takings for I69, highways, gas pipelines, and other eminent domain takings. He has negotiated over three million dollars in compensation for his clients earning him a reputation throughout the community as an authority on eminent domain and condemnation law, who is a tireless advocate for his client.
In Kris’ criminal practice, he has tried a variety of different types of cases to a jury. Kris also has significant experience in trying criminal cases involving DNA, which gives him a unique insight on the holes that prosecutors may have in cases that others believe are open and shut. Kris’ experience in practicing throughout Central and South Central Indiana allows him to provide his clients with realistic and practice legal advice.
Kris has served as Martinsville City Councilman since 2016, where he represented citizens city wide and advocated for the growth and development of the City of Martinsville. Kris doggedly pursued allegations of wasteful spending and served as a watchdog for tax payer’s dollars, showing he has no fear of holding city hall accountable. Kris is currently also a member of the City of Martinsville Board of Public Works.
Kris studied History at Indiana University before law school and still enjoys studying United States and Ancient Roman history. Kris’ favorite area of research in his legal practice is the psychology of jury selection. Outside the office, Kris enjoyed renovating historic homes, cycling, and traveling with his wife.
