Lance has been an attorney for more than 11 years. While attending law school, he won the Joseph N. Spencer III award for the most outstanding law review article based on his submission analyzing the aggravating factors in death penalty cases and the need to restructure and narrowly tailor them.
After law school, he began his career at the Bartow County’s Public Defender’s Office where he handled over 1000 cases at PD’s office alone. In April 2011, he joined a private law firm, where he worked until he joined FFB in 2020 as the firm's Senior Family Law Attorney, and became a named partner only 6 months after, renaming the company Brown and Dutton Law Firm, where he now practice and owns. For the past 9 years, Lance has focused his efforts on specializing in all areas of family and criminal law, and he has completed over 20 jury trials. Both specialties call for passionate representation during difficult times for the client. Lance’s clients say that he is a fierce advocate and will fight for the best interest of his client while maintaining a clear focus on the end goal. His clients describe him as personable, a fighter when needed, and a man of his word who will go the extra mile to protect their rights. Lance workers closely with each client to set realistic goals and then battles tenaciously to deliver the expected results.

When not practicing law, Lance plays an active role in the community. He has coached children’s sports, is an avid ALTA tennis player and has recently taken up golf. Lance enjoys watching the Georgia Bulldogs and running and playing with his two rescue dogs: Lucky and Foxy.
