Leonard Kohen is a general commercial litigator whose specialties include election law and government affairs, real estate, banking and securities litigation, fraud claims (prosecuting and defending), premises and malpractice liability, employment law and regulatory/compliance work.

With ten years of Manhattan law firm experience as a commercial litigator with multiple core areas of specialties, Leonard serves as "Of Counsel" to Kurzon LLP, while pursuing election reform as one of the chairs of the New York Democratic Lawyers Council. Leonard also represents businesses in a general counsel capacity. 

Among major victories that Leonard has obtained for clients are a court award against a popular newsstand magazine and a settlement in an employment discrimination claim against a large multi-national law firm. In 2012, as counsel to State Senate Minority Leader John Sampson and the Senate Democratic party conference in federal redistricting litigation, Leonard defeated motions to dismiss by state Senate and Assembly majority leaders, enabling the court to draw congressional redistricting maps without disruption to the election calendar. For several years Leonard has represented victims of mortgage fraud and predatory lending schemes generally ending with hard fought successful resolutions. 

Leonard has worked as a litigation associate for a combined six years at two Manhattan boutique law firms with sophisticated commercial practices, and also has represented numerous clients in general counsel capacities. Besides the courts, Leonard has represented clients before attorneys general and other administrative agencies in New York (e.g., NYC Fire Department, Department of Consumer Affairs, Environmental Control Board).
