I grew up with one grandparent, a woman we in my family affectionately called "Mo."  She was one of the biggest role models in my life, and I always found myself fascinated by her stories and life experiences.  As a kid, I volunteered with an organization that took shelter animals into nursing homes for visits that were meaningful for both the animals and the nursing home residents, many of whom had to leave pets behind when they moved into the nursing home.  I also volunteered as an activities coordinator with a nursing home.  My job was to walk around with a cart handing out magazines, books and games and even giving manicures.  I realized how much I loved spending time with this generation of people who have so many stories and words of wisdom to share.

As an adult, the appreciation I have for the older generations has led to a fulfilling career of being their advocate.  As our society is living longer, we have to face the reality of someday requiring more care than our family can provide.  I work with families to assess their goals, needs, and financial picture in order to plan for the future and give them peace of mind.
