I experienced my parent’s awful divorce when I was a child, and I saw how it negatively affected both of my parents, my siblings, and I. Because of that experience I wanted to practice family law. The first five years of my practice was almost solely divorce and custody litigation. Again, I saw the legal battle and inner battles that my clients and their families were going through; the most concerning part was how awful these battles were for the kids. This is not a process or experience I would wish on anyone.

When I opened Easterling Law in Charlotte I wanted to focus on a different approach to family law cases for my clients. The law is always a focus in our cases, but the law is the lowest standard of conduct. We can do better for families in creating resolutions that fit their specific needs. It is my hope that processes like Collaborative Law can help family’s transition from the title of Husband and Wife while remaining Mom and Dad forever.
