Lizeth Gómez is an immigration and criminal defense Attorney and founder of Gomez Law Firm. She was born in Bogotá, Colombia and immigrated to the United States as a child. She grew up in Atlanta, Georgia as an undocumented immigrant. She has a unique insight into the issues immigrant communities face every day and a passion for helping people establish their lives in the United States.

Mrs. Gómez has extensive experience in the legal field, particularly in criminal defense and immigration law. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Georgia State University (GSU) and went on to earn her J.D. from the GSU College of Law. Throughout law school, Ms. Gómez was awarded internships with the offices of Judge Thompson in the State Court of Fayette County, the DeKalb County Public Defender, and the Spalding County District Attorney. Immediately following law school, she was awarded a fellowship with the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Southeast Immigrant Freedom Initiative (SPLC – SIFI). Later, she worked as an attorney with the Office of the Clayton County Public Defender. She has represented hundreds of indigent clients in criminal hearings as a public defender. She has also represented people detained in immigration detention centers as a pro bono attorney for the SPLC.
