Biography
The son of a New York City police officer, Mario Palermo got into injury law to help the underdog achieve justice. For the last 16 years, Mario has dedicated his entire career to doing one thing and one thing only, recovering compensation for injury victims and their families.
Mr. Palermo was thrust into the national legal spotlight with his early handling of a defective airbag case that involved the death of a 48-year-old mother. Ford Motor Company attempted to argue that the mother's death was due to her "brittle neck". The case settled for $1,500,000 after Mr. Palermo successfully used the vehicle's "black box" technology to prove the airbag was defective. This case was featured prominently in the national news as one of the first successful uses of vehicle "black box" technology to prove an auto manufacturer's negligence.
Mr. Palermo helped recover $2,300,000 for a group of DuPage County Homeowners who lived adjacent to a factory that recklessly handled a toxic chemical known as "Trichloroethylene".
Recently:
- Mr. Palermo obtained $1,000,000 for a 64-year-old surveyor struck by a driver who initially told police that she simply "witnessed" the accident and that the culprit fled the scene.
- Mr. Palermo obtained $1,000,000 for a 53-year-old truck driver who was struck in the face by a 4x4 thrown by an unobservant railroad worker.
- Mr. Palermo resolved the case of a Central Illinois factory worker who was sexually harassed by a co-worker for $477,000.
- Mr. Palermo obtained $990,000 for an 81-year-old man from Romeoville, IL that was "t-boned" in an intersection by a cement truck.
- A Danville jury awarded Mr. Palermo's Champaign client $372,000 for a fall on ice at a gas station.
- Mr. Palermo obtained $400,000 for a 28-year-old woman from Aurora, IL that was the victim of a hit and run driver. The driver of the van denied that he had any involvement in causing the crash. Mr. Palermo used tollway records to locate and identify the hit and run driver.
- Mr. Palermo obtained $800,000 for the family of a 63-year-old woman who died as a result of a negligently performed gall bladder removal surgery.
These are but a few of the representative cases that Mr. Palermo has handled over his career. Mr. Palermo has successfully resolved hundreds of cases for individuals injured in car or truck accidents, falls on dangerous premises, as a result of medical malpractice, and from dangerous products.
He serves on the Board of Governors of the West Suburban Bar Association and the Italian American Political Coalition. He is a member of the Justinian Society, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Dupage Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association. He accepted an invitation to join one of the most elite groups of trial attorneys in the United States, the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
