After more than 25 years in law at the government, small, large and humongous  law firms and being General Counsel for William H. Gates III (at Cascade Investment, LLC), in 2005 I decided to set up my own law firm.  I have had a wonderful legal career and thought there was no better time to become a solo practitioner.  It's been a great decision, as I  found that I do love practicing law - I just did not need the headaches of being a partner in a major law firm or answering to a "boss."  When my clients call, they get me on the phone.  When they need a document, I prepare it.  From my years in Seattle law practice, I know lots of great lawyers, in big firms, little firms and solo practitioners like myself.  So, when my clients need special expertise that I don't have, it's easy to connect them with the right lawyer.
