Marques took an unconventional route into practicing law. Prior to becoming a QDRO attorney, he worked in human resources management and plan administration, as an analyst at a retirement plan consulting firm, and as a financial planner, coach, and educator. In these roles, he worked on numerous employee pay and benefits issues, drafted QDRO procedures and model QDROs, and reviewed, approved, and processed QDROs. As a financial professional, Marques worked with entrepreneurs, individuals, and families to identify and refine their financial goals and values, gain clarity about their money relationships, increase financial resiliency through various life stages, including divorce, and provided comprehensive financial planning and training. Marques has worked on more than 6,000 QDRO cases through these lenses, in addition to presenting QDRO-related content at statewide conferences, bar association events, and at local law firms.
